A line you can manage in the app
Enabled accounts can hold one supported US line and one UK line. Available US numbers are local or mobile; UK numbers are mobile. Number availability depends on provider inventory and requirements.
A line is a recurring provider service. The app displays the numbers set up for Orrerie rather than importing unrelated numbers from the provider account. Availability depends on stock, provider requirements and your setup.
Review the number, then call
The dialer checks a number’s format, shows the selected Orrerie caller ID and checks available carrier or line information. You review the destination before placing the call.
Call audio and controls stay in the app. Mute the microphone, switch between speaker and receiver, use keypad tones during the call and end it when you are done. The call record keeps timing and provider-reported cost when available.
Answer in the iOS app
Incoming calls use the native iOS call controls. The app connects the call after it is accepted and audio is ready.
If the call is missed, declined or cannot be connected, it can move to voicemail. A missed call and a completed voicemail remain distinct in the history, so you can see what happened without mistaking a recording for a live conversation.
Listen, read and return to the details
Open a voicemail to play or pause its recording and move through the audio with the playback control. Read the transcript when one is available, or see that transcription is still being prepared.
Call details show the available timeline from start through ringing, answer and end. Transcripts may be incomplete or inaccurate, so use the recording to check important details.
Make the greeting yours
Write the greeting callers hear before the recording tone. Choose a Warm or Deep voice and a US or UK English accent.
Set the maximum voicemail length from 15 seconds to five minutes and choose how long silence is allowed before recording stops. These controls apply to voicemail; they do not turn every live call into a recording.
Keep incoming texts close
Incoming SMS appears in the Texts view for the selected line. Open a message to read it, copy its content or share it using the standard iOS share controls.
Texts, Voicemail and Calls have separate filters, with unread information for the selected line. Outgoing SMS and replies are not available.
Choose how a sender reaches you
Contact Shield supports a rule for an exact phone number, a number prefix or an exact text sender ID. You can create an individual exception to a broader prefix rule.
Manual sender rules take priority over AI classification. Check the chosen scope carefully: a prefix can match more than one person, and a familiar-looking sender name does not prove identity.
Sort alerts with your own categories
Enable Notification Intelligence separately for texts, live calls and voicemail. Choose Notify, Mute or Block for categories including Security, Personal, Transactional, Promotion, Advertisement, Survey, Spam, Scam and Unknown.
Choose Cautious, Balanced or Strict sensitivity. The record shows its category and a short explanation. Mute keeps a message unread without an alert; Block can stop an identified call or mark a message handled while retaining the record.
Borderline Block decisions become Mute. Low-confidence results follow your Unknown category setting. If classification fails or times out, AI does not block the item; normal delivery and your other settings still apply.
Understand the service and charges
Phone lines and calls depend on the provider and can have charges. The app does not offer an exact pre-call Voice quote; it shows provider-reported cost after the call when available.
App audio protection is not a claim that an ordinary telephone call is encrypted end to end through the public phone network. Treat voicemail, transcripts and shared texts as private information.
Pricing and availability
Orrerie Phone is planned at US$7.99 per month. New subscriptions are not yet available. Access to an existing service depends on your account.
Subscription purchasing is planned through Apple In-App Purchase. Final availability and terms will be shown in the app before purchasing opens.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have both a US and UK number?
An enabled Orrerie setup can have one US line and one UK line, subject to eligible provider inventory and requirements. New Phone subscriptions are not yet available. The planned subscription price is not a promise that both lines or unlimited calls are included; final terms will be shown before purchasing opens.
Which number appears when I call someone?
The dialer shows the Orrerie line selected for the outgoing call. Review that caller ID together with the destination before starting. The app uses the configured line; it does not let a caller choose an arbitrary identity or import unrelated numbers from the provider account.
Can I send or reply to SMS?
No. SMS is inbound only. You can read, copy and share an incoming message, but the app does not provide a send or reply action. If outgoing messaging is important to your use, do not assume that having an Orrerie number includes that capability.
What happens when I do not answer?
A missed or declined incoming call can go to voicemail with your chosen greeting. The record then shows the voicemail and its transcript when available. A connection problem can also send a call to voicemail. Check the saved call details rather than assuming every incoming ring became a live conversation.
Can I change how long callers can leave a message?
Yes. Phone controls let you set a maximum message length between 15 seconds and five minutes, plus a silence limit between two and twenty seconds. You can also edit the greeting and choose the voice and accent. These settings control voicemail recording, not the length of every live call.
What is the difference between Mute and Block?
Mute leaves an item available and unread but does not alert you. Block can stop an identified live call or mark an incoming message handled without an alert. Its record stays in Orrerie Phone. AI classification uses a higher confidence requirement for Block and reduces borderline decisions to Mute.
Do manual sender rules override AI?
Yes. Exact sender, number and prefix rules are checked before the optional AI classification. This lets you set a clear preference for a known sender or a group of matching numbers. Review broad prefix rules carefully and create an exact exception if you want one person handled differently.
What happens if the AI filter is unavailable?
AI failure or timeout does not by itself block an item. Orrerie continues through the normal delivery path, subject to your other notification and manual sender settings. Filtering is not a guarantee that scams will be detected, so treat callers and messages as untrusted even when they are allowed through.
Will I see the exact cost before placing a call?
The provider does not supply an exact Voice quote before the call in this flow. Orrerie shows provider-reported charges afterwards when they are available. Line charges are separate and recurring. Review the service terms and your setup before relying on a particular call cost.
Does a transcript mean the call was recorded?
The voicemail view can show a recording and a transcript generated for it. An ordinary call record can instead show timing without a recording. Read the specific record rather than assuming every call is recorded or transcribed. Transcripts can contain errors, so check important details against the audio when available.
